Two Dogs Dreaming

The artwork tells the story of two dog ancestors, a Jampijinpa and a Napangardi, who travelled from west to east. During their journey, they dug holes in the ground and created warnirri, or rockholes, and ngapa, or waterholes.

The two dogs eventually separated. Jampijinpa became lonely and howled for Napangardi in the south. She then came running back to him, and the two were married at Ngarnka.

This story forms the basis of the design reproduced on the tea towel and connects the everyday homeware piece with the artist’s cultural storytelling.
