Coasters – Indigenart by Ngarra

Ngarra born on Glenroy Station in the Kimberley, He speaks Kitja, Ngarinytin and Bush English. He is a senior law man from the Kimberly Region of Western Australia. Ngarra grew up living a nomadic, traditional life in the bush under the guidance of his grandparents. 

He spent much of his early life working as a cattleman on pastoral stations. During the wet seasons when station work slowed down, he walked his Country to participate in vital ceremonial practices and law. 

Ngarra began painting later in life, creating a powerful visual archive blending traditional Dreaming stories, creation laws, and memories of the colonial frontier, alongside playful depictions of pastoral life and native flora and fauna.
