About Lee Anne Hall
Lee Anne Hall is the daughter of Aboriginal artist and activist Phillip Hall and Indigenous artist Pam Brandy Hall. She is also the great-granddaughter of Aboriginal activist Jack Patten.
Stories shared by her family continue to influence her artwork and connection to culture. Lee Anne combines pastel and ochre tones with dynamic lines, bold shapes and detailed graphic elements.
Australian flora and fauna also inspire her designs. As a result, her contemporary style maintains connections to family, culture and Country while presenting traditional stories through a modern visual approach.
About the Artwork
My Country, My People depicts the meeting of two rivers and the surrounding landscape. The artwork also represents the vegetation and cotton fields surrounding the rivers, which provide an important food source for local Aboriginal communities.
The riverbanks hold cultural importance as places used for ceremonies and community gatherings. Through this artwork, Lee Anne represents the relationship between Country, community and cultural practice.
