About Jamie Eastwood
Jamie Eastwood was born in Sydney, New South Wales, on 14 May 1971. He is the son of highly regarded Aboriginal artist Danny Eastwood and grew up with strong connections to art, culture and storytelling.
Jamie has family connections to Brewarrina in far western New South Wales through his grandmother’s Country and Ngamba heritage. He also has connections to Gadigal Country in Sydney.
Through his mother’s ancestry, Jamie is a descendant of Bungaree and has connections to the Ku-ring-gai and Darug peoples.
These different cultural and family influences contribute to Jamie’s artistic perspective. His work brings together elements of the past, present and future while reflecting both his Indigenous heritage and his contemporary Western upbringing.
