Clap Sticks – Hardwood

Music sticks are traditional Aboriginal percussion instruments, used by both men and women. Music sticks are played by holding one stick loosely in one hand and striking it in a heart beat rhythm with the second. Approximately 30cm long made out of hardwood. Depicting traditional and contemporary story-telling designs. These are individually hand painted and no two are alike.

Clap sticks are traditional Indigenous Australian percussion instruments crafted from dense hardwood or tree branches, used to keep rhythm during songlines, and often left undecorated to focus purely on their acoustic resonance or to be carved and painted later with specific, personal, or community intent.
