Hand Painted Bullroarer.
Artwork: As a Bundjalung artist, I paint stories about the Dreamtime, myths, Aboriginal survival, land, animals and waterways. I use rich vivid colours, earth tones and traditional style to tell the stories of the Dreamtime, my country, and my people.
Traditionally these were used strictly by men. When swung rapidly by the string in a circular motion the bullroarer will let off a roaring sound. This warns women and children a ceremony is taking place and to ward away evil spirits. These bullroarers are made of hardwood timber and are approximately 25cm long. They depict aboriginal traditional and contemporary story telling designs.Information and artist bio included. As these are individually handpainted no two are alike.
