About the artwork
Jeannie Mills Pwerle’s Dreaming centres on the desert yam. Her work explores its seeds and blossoms as well as the women’s ceremony associated with this Dreaming.
Bush Yam Dreaming is also represented by several other artists from the Utopia region, including Emily Kame Kngwarreye. However, Jeannie’s works have their own distinctive and recognisable style.
The design uses strong colour and repeated painted forms across the surface. Pink, purple, blue, orange and other bright tones create a highly detailed pattern.
